1983 Cabin Remodel

Lorraine and Ken decided to retire up at Wilkins Lake. To this end, they remodeled the cabin and turned it into their retirement Lake Home.

The remodel job was an impressive engineering feat. The cabin had to be jacked up so the new basement could be excavated underneath it. Then the basement walls and all support columns and beams had to be constructed, again, while underneath the floating cabin. Once this was complete, the cabin could be lowered down onto the new basement frame.

The front of the cabin was extended outward to make a new living room and dining area. The old cabin living room became a third upstairs bedroom-den.

The end result was an efficient, functional and beautiful home.
